Lake Chatuge Animal Hospital - new facility

Lake Chatuge Animal Hospital, located
in Young Harris, in the mountains of northern Georgia, is a brand new
full-services veterinary facility. Dr. Burr researched several
areas in the South to open a new practice in the hills of north
Georgia. The charge set forth by Dr. Burr was
to create a facility that is efficient, modern, yet reflects the
culture, geography, architecture, and pace of this beautiful part of
the country. The result is a structure that utilizes all these
assets. The exterior uses materials that are inherent in the
area: primarily stone and wood. The rooflines pay homage to
the surrounding mountains. The punch windows reflect the feeling
of numerous bodies of water in the surrounding region while directing
natural light into the Lobby and Action Room. The unique
three-roofs of the front facade give a hint as to the spaces
inside. Instead of a cluttered and outdated
bulletin board, we decided to create a high-tech Communications Center
in the Lobby. This features a plasma screen that can show Client
Education material, Hospital and Staff information, and broadcast
television like The Animal Planet live into the Lobby.The large and efficient Action Room
is the hub of activity in Lake Chatuge Animal Hospital. A
three-armed treatment/wet/dry table island occupies the center of the
space. Critical workspaces radiate from the Action Room.
The Surgery Room is clearly visible because a storefront window system
doubles as a wall. This allows full visibility of activites and
staff to and from the Surgery and Action Rooms. The ICU/Recovery
also has windows that allow staff to keep tabs on critical patients
from the Action Room without having to physically enter the ICU
room. Each ICU/Recovery cagewall has a power outlet and
retractable IV hook built into the wall system allowing easy access to
these necessary items. Also within easy access to the Action Room
is Radiology, Laundry, and the Hospital Wards.Effective circulation makes
Verterinary Facilies efficient. The front spaces, the Lobby, Dog
and Cat Waiting, and Retail spaces are dedicated to the Pet-Owning
public. The Staff and Pet Owners share the row of Exam Rooms and
Grooming Room. A primary Staff Hall allows the staff to enter and
leave the facility and access all spaces of the hospital and transport
pets. The Staff Lavatory, Staff Lounge, Doctor Office, Storage
and Mechanical are located in a bank of spaces and easily accessible to
the rest of the working areas of the hospital.Lake Chatuge Animal Hospital is
clearly a modern veterinary facility with the Client, Pet and Staff all
in mind to provide the most Caring, Warm, Technical and Efficient brand
of Veterinary Medicine possible.
