The Brogli, Lane, Weaver and Brogli Animal Hospital is an approximately 5,100 square foot, mixed animal facility. This includes 3,300 square feet of small animal space and 1,780 square feet of large animal space that would be taken over by the small animal facility. Like many veterinary facilities that have been renovated over the years, efficient traffic flow for the client and especially for the staff had all but been lost. Growth of the practice had created many problems within the hospital confines. The following is a list of issues that are addressed in the renovation and expansion of this busy small animal practice:
- Add two exam rooms
- Increase traffic efficiency
- Between exam rooms and pharmacy/lab - staff
- For checking clients in and out
- Between pharmacy/lab and treatment (action) room - staff
- Between lobby and patient/boarder spaces - staff
- More pharmacy and lab space
- More treatment (action) room space that is audibly farther from public spaces
- Doctor station
- Tech station
- Doctor and Tech stations central to activity spaces (exam rooms, pharmacy/lab and action spaces)
- Additional wet/treatment tables
- Expanded surgery space
- More storage space
- Janitor closet
- Enjanced public restroom
- Isolation out of primary traffic pattern
- Laundry space
- I.C.U. adjacent to action and surgery spaces
- I.C.U. in separate, but visible space
- Holding cage areas for radiology and surgery
- Separate hosiptal ward from boarders
- Expanded kennel space
- Open circulation around activity spaces
The lab and pharmacy spaces are unique as islands of casework are used, in addition to a full wall of cabinetry. A skylight over each island provides amazing natural light for these spaces. The Doctor and Technician Stations are centrally located as they are adjacent to the lab/pharmacy space, the exam rooms, and the Action (Treatment) Room. A skylight is also located over the space.
 Action Room
Another hub of activity is the Action Room. This space is similar to a treatment room as a four-pronged wet and dry treatment table is the center of action. The double surgery suite is located in the Action Room and has windowed walls for visibility in and out of surgery. Plenty of storage cabinets are a functional feature of this area.
