animal caredesign is the second passion of Dr. Todd
White. After practicing veterinary medicine for almost 20 years,
he pursued another passion -- architecture -- and received a Masters of
Architecture degree.
Dr. Todd White on Good Design:
Because of my veterinary background, I understand the many
intricacies of every day practice. There are many aspects of
running an efficient and successful veterinary practice, and one of the
most important of these aspects is the facility itself. If the
hospital in which you work is well planned and properly constructed,
the experience of meeting the daily (and often hourly) demands of your
clients and patients is much more enjoyable and productive for you,
your staff, your clients and their pets.
The first step in any business is getting to know the people
with whom and for whom I am working. Any building project,
especially one as important and personal as a veterinary hospital,
begins with understanding where my client "is coming from" so to
speak. Every animal hospital is unique because every Doctor is
unique in their personality and the way they practice medicine. I
want to meet the Doctor(s), tour their facility and get the staff's
input into what is important about their needs of the physical plant in
which their vital jobs are performed. A constant and vital
in-depth relationship is the foundation to a well-planned, functional
and beautiful veterinary hospital.
